I’m a personal development and leadership coach with a B.Comm in Economics, Industrial & Clinical Psychology, and an MBA from the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. I’m an accredited Ontological Coach, hold an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential with the International Coaching Federation, and am a certified John Maxwell transformation and leadership coach.
I’m deeply passionate about the art and science of human growth — exploring how ontology, systems psychology, emotional well-being, and spiritual and relational maturity come together to shape impactful leadership and thriving organisations.
Proudly South African and Swiss, I now call Geneva home, where I live with my husband and our two young adult daughters. When I’m not coaching, you’ll find me enjoying life’s simple pleasures — sharing delicious meals with friends, walking our two Golden Retrievers, or enjoying moments with my family, reading or travelling.

HI, I'M CARINE DE BRUYN

My Approach

"The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds." - R.D. Laing
"…encourage leaders to focus first on their own integrity and on the nature of their own presence rather than through techniques for manipulating or motivating others." - Edwin Friedman

See differently

We are what we see. We also can only change by seeing differently. Growing in awareness and the ability to observe ourselves and our surroundings differently,  is key to growth. Our own thoughts and narratives, our moods and emotions and our embodied habits form an integral part of who we are. Learning to make shifts in these domains, open up a world of possibilities for us.

lead yourself first

Growing in self-definition and taking personal responsibility for who we are and our impact is what ultimately leads to personal change and in the contexts we are part of. This is true in a relationship, family, team or business context.  In simple terms it means shifting from a focus on others to oneself with results all round!

practise, reflect, adjust

Lasting and sustained change comes through practice and reflection. We only truly learn through doing!  The saying “practice makes perfect” is proven to be true. Scheduling time for personal reflection and intentional coaching conversations greatly empowers change. This stands in contrast to our default of gathering more and more information while we keep operating from our habitual (and often unhelpful) autopilot mode.
